Berries and Trees

Last post before Boston and Maine pictures (I still need to edit them... trying not to be overwhelmed by the volume!). :) Friday the girls and I decided to try taking the ferry to go strawberry picking. The crop was low this year so when I saw that the farm was open we took advantage of it! Evelyn loved it... she continues to take after little Sal again this year and ate everything she picked. When we went up to pay she had 3 strawberries still in her basket (not sure if she picked them herself or if they made their way there from my basket ;)). By the time I was done paying her basket was empty. :) I put Gracie on my back, an arrangement she was NOT thrilled with and led to a quick exit from the field, but once she was out of the carrier she was happy to enjoy the results of my labor and the ferry ride. ;)

How did my little girl get tall enough to see over the edge of the ferry balcony!!
Yesterday we spent the morning in CW and at the Farmer's Market. Much to Evie's delight we ran into our neighbor Lily. You can tell how delighted she is to get to pose with Lily for a picture in the garden. :)

Next we made our way to the climbing tree - One of E's favorite spots in all of Williamsburg. When we were in Maine she actually asked if we could go home so that we could go to the climbing tree. You can see how pleased she is with climbing the 3-4 feet to get to this seat. :)

Easter - last catch up post! :)

Before I post some Boston and Maine pictures I couldn't neglect posting a couple pictures from our quick trip up to Ohio for Easter with most of my extended family.
One of the highlights for Evie came before we even headed north. We took cookies to share with everyone and she played a crucial role in helping me make the dough and even more importantly, decorating! She took her sprinkle job very seriously and kept exclaiming "oh mommy, these are just sooooo beauuuuutiful!" It was pretty fun. :)
Lana and Gracie bonded instantly. :) They were so funny together all weekend!
They highlights of the weekend include the big easter egg hunt, shopping (with the aunts and cousins), basketball (for the guys), and just all hanging out together and enjoying not being scattered across the country!
The egg hunt has gotten a bit more exciting lately for the hunters as more and more of us cousins have switched over to being hiders... Poor Car with one of her eggs floating in the middle of a large puddle!

And I'm pretty sure Megan and Alex also had to climb to the tops of trees, not just Rache :)
Thankfully the hiders went easy on the little ones and E and G loved the hunt!
Two on two basketball...

Hanging out to watch March Madness and just catch up on cousin life. :)  
This year poor Evelyn had the flu which is why she isn't in many of these pictures. :( It also meant that we went to church in shifts instead of all together, but that's the way it goes. Glad it was a short lived flu! Sorry we managed to pass it along to 5-6 others before left!!!! :( Here are Lana and Drew Easter morning...

Checking out the community egg hunts...

For the first time this year we decided to try some of the community Easter egg hunts. There were 4-5 on the same day, so we just picked two. ;) The first was your stereotypical community egg hunt - hundreds of eggs in small areas divided by age group. When the whistle sounded you made a made dash to pick up as many as you could. Maybe not super thrilling, although the girls did enjoy it along with the face painting and other games.
Gracie was quite pleased with her two eggs. That was all she could hold, after all.
They funniest (or oddest) part about the hunt was the prizes in the *0-2* age category was a jolly rancher (???), a teeny tiny eraser, and a sticker. A sticker is fine, but the other two were kind of serious choking hazards! They somehow managed to disappear quickly. ;)

The second egg hunt was on W&M's campus and hosted by one of the sororities. It was so fun. They took the Wren Chapel lawn and actually hid eggs (with good, age appropriate candy) all over. Evie thought getting to hunt for the eggs was the greatest thing ever. :)
After the egg hunts we went over to our friend's for lunch. Evie loves the Tennant boys and had a blast playing in their fort in the woods and being pushed around in their dump trucks - haha. Thanks for being so kind to her, Jackson and Connor! :)

Springtime!!

We've had a wonderful spring so far with many warm and even hot days! Here are a few pictures from the phone and other miscellaneous places. :)
Bike rides! We are so glad that Gracie is big enough this summer to go on bike rides with us! Here are she and Evie getting ready to go out with Dad for their first spin of the year. Note the helmet. Nathan was wearing one so Evie was sure she needed to borrow mine for the ride. Clearly she is more Mortier in this area than Walker!!! ;)

They're off!

We had a play date or two with our good friend Adeline before she and her family moved to Richmond. We're glad that they're still not too far away. Addie and Gracie thought each other were pretty great.

Like I said, we've had some VERY warm days so of course we headed to the beach!! Thanks, Danielle and Amy, for being up for a last minute beach day!
Glad Jackson wasn't going home in my car.... ;)

Busch Gardens opened end of March and it has already been a highlight. :)
Home Depot has kids days one Saturday a month. In April Evie got to make a bird house! She started out with some help from Dad,

but quickly moved on to doing it "all by myself" :)

Not sure why she picked to do it all traffic cone orange when there were pinks, purples, greens, blues and browns to also pick from. I think because the girl across the table also picked orange. ;) We have a traffic cone bird feeder hanging from our tree now though! :)

Lastly, while we mostly had gorgeous weather, we also had a random snow storm!! Nathan and the girls were out running errands. When they walked out of a store Evie was so enthralled, "Daddy, Look!!! There is snow EVERYWHERE!" However, in her excitement over the snow she forgot to look where she was going and she completely wiped out. Poor baby got all bundled up to dry off and warm up when she got home. Then she and Gracie watched the snow from the safety of our kitchen. :)
