Sandy Adventures

Today was an extra Saturday for us as Nathan had a hurricane day thanks to Sandy. We've now almost  survived our second hurricane during our time as Virginians. :) Thankfully, our experience in Irene and Sandy (so far) have not been bad - more just an exciting, very windy, very wet couple days. Where we now live loses power quickly and I was sure we'd love it today, but it hasn't even flickered. If it got too bad our plan was to drive up to PA to stay with Chris, Kate, and Katie, but I think they're getting the worst of it (feel free to come down here, guys! :)).
This morning we had our friend Annette over for a pajama pancake breakfast (Karen stopped by for a bit, but she sadly still had work). Evie loves making breakfast with Daddy and was quite pleased with her Mickey Mouse pancake. :) She did get her cartoon characters a bit mixed up and called him Mickey Monster (Micky Mouse/Cookie Monster combo ;)) for a while. :pIMG_3706-1.JPG IMG_3709-1.JPGBefore heading to our friends the Slades for a day of games, we drove down to our favorite beach on the James River... or at least what used to be our favorite James River beach! The water was so high and I have never seen the river with waves like these. These pictures aren't the best since the park was closed and we were taking these from the entrance. Plus it was quite rainy and windy. For those of you who haven't been here, the beach usually extends out between that fence ad the rocks on the right side of the picture.

We also drove by the Eco Discovery Park but obviously didn't get too far with the road under water!IMG_3717-1.JPG

After the Slades we hung out with our neighbors, Stacy and Lily, for a bit and now the girls are asleep and we're chillin'. Hope everyone else is staying safe and as dry as possible! Thinking about you all further north!
