Pork, Peanut, &Pine Festival

This year we decided to check out the Pork, Peanut & Pine Festival along with Grandma and Grandpa. I hadn't heard of it before this year, but I guess it's a pretty big deal around here. It required a ride on the ferry, which is always fun. :)IMG_3031.JPG IMG_3029.JPG
The PP&P was on an old farm/plantation and included lots of food vendors (BBQ etc :)), community and craft vendors, a tractor pull (a definite highlight - see pics below), old car show, live music, petting zoo, etc. On our way in we past the fire fighters table and they were giving out free hats to kids.

Being a girly girl, it didn't take Evie long to realize that if she held the hat by its elastic chin strap, she could make it into a purse! We spent quite a bit of time collecting flowers for her "purse" :)IMG_3054.JPG
Evelyn's favorite animals right now are kitties, piggies, and bunnies. While there weren't any cats at this festival, she was *thrilled* by the pigs and bunnies that she got to meet (among other animals)! You can tell by her face how delighted she was, especially with the tiniest pig. :)IMG_3040.JPG IMG_3034.JPGIMG_3038.JPG IMG_3042.JPGIMG_3049.JPG IMG_3050.JPGIMG_3079.JPGIMG_3045.JPG
Choo Choo was, uh, quite the pig! *I* was slightly terrified. I was impressed that Evie wasn't!

The other highlight of the day was the tractor pull - lol. Quite the experience. Evie loved it, although it got a little loud.

Here was another spectator with us.

They had four different kinds of mini tractors as well and they were hosting a kids tractor pull later in the day. Evie didn't participate in that, but she did enjoy trying Farmall out. ;) Nathan has a mini John Deere tractor just like this at his parents which Evie also loves. Maybe we can get her practicing on that one so she'll be set for the pull next year. ;)IMG_3078.JPG
It POURED on us at the end. Here's a soggy, tired but happy Evie. :)2012 Summer5.JPG
