Another wild week at the Mortiers!

Ok, so I'm a little late for my weekend update but here are some highlights from last week. :)
Our dance/music class had our final class for the semester and the girls perform their first ever tap dance. Since it was the final class I let the girls pick out their own outfits. ;)
Wednesday was our class trip to the Nutcracker! It was a condensed version for school groups and perfect for our preschool class. It was Gracie’s first time going and she loved it. :) I found nutcrackers at the dollar store and brought one for each of the kids. :) They all thoroughly enjoyed them but, being from the dollar store, glue was needed about 15 minutes  - haha.
The girls love to dress up and mostly it’s princesses, ballerinas, and fairies, but they also get a pretty big kick out of dressing like Nathan and I and trying to imitate us. ;) Here they are “being daddy” ;)
Thursday Nathan had his LEAD Historic Triangle day for December and they visited the jail, juvenile place, fire department and police department. He got to ride up the ladder in the hook and ladder truck. They only went 1/3 of the way up but he said it was pretty high! Crazy how high they get and then the fire fighters climb all the way up with all their gear on! Thankful for all those who serve us this way!
Julia, the first of my children to discover this, has become enamored with splashing in toilet water. GROSS. Here she is, extremely offended after I told her no. Sorry, not even being cute will help you get away with this one. ;)
A highlight of the weekend was breakfast at Chick-fil-a with Anna and Elsa!! Oh my. They had the princesses there as well as frozen crafts. Each child got a very small cup with ice cream and a baggie with chocolate chips, two pretzels and a candy corn to turn their ice cream into Olaf. ;) The girls loved it.
The highlight for Julia was playing in the play-land. This CFA has the toddler play set and she loves it. Here she realizing that SHE can push these buttons and make noise!!! It was hilarious to watch her delight at realizing she was the one controlling the different noises - haha! The picture with her eyes closed isn’t an accident, that was an actual face she’d make. lol. Aunt Caroline, I think she has your eyebrow.
So it’s been a rather busy time of year and last week was good but crazy. I fell asleep accidentally in the play room and Nathan walked in to this - haha! Gracie had “put me down for my nap” (I only vaguely remember this. I must have been pretty out!) complete with jamming a water cup into my mouth (I do remember that part). :) Love these sweet girls!!!
We had a great time at the Progressive dinner with the youth group on Sunday night! Pictures of that to come, but here is a teaser. This picture is remarkable to me. Look, all three of my girls are looking in the same direction and smiling!!!!!

This past week...

So blogging with three small children (and everything else going on, like moving :)) has proven over the last year to be a bit more than I can keep up with. :) I'm going to try a new strategy though… sometime over the weekend posting pictures that we've taken the previous week. It's hard to remember who I've texted/emailed what pictures to and this way I know all our family has access to them! We'll see how it goes or how long it lasts. :) Next Sunday we're hosting dinner for about 50 people so realistically I may fail my new plan the very first week after implementing. ;) We'll see. :)

We tried on all our Christmas dresses this week to see what fit which girl this Advent season. Evie loved the entire process. Gracie despised it. ;) You can tell by their expressions in these pictures. ;) Here they are in the Christmas dresses that were mine and Katie's when we were little.
This week we got our first flat tire. :( We came out of Julia’s doctor’s appointment to this:
We were on our way to a cookie exchange and didn’t want to miss it! Daddy graciously and wonderfully came over from work with the right tools and put the spare on for us. :) While we waited, the girls had a great time playing with a 6+ foot of piping they found in the grass (I have no idea what it was doing there…!).
We’ve enjoyed some Christmas crafts...
Yesterday was cold and rainy so we decided to check out what Great Wolf Lodge had to offer (we obviously couldn’t do the water park, to the girls disappointment, since we weren’t overnight guests). We’d never been inside and heard that it was cool. If I’d known I would have prepared the girls for the face that there would be people walking around in swimsuits even though it was 45 degrees outside and they were wearing coats. We walked in and Evie said “Look at that naked lady!!!” (for the record, she wasn’t naked… she was wearing a swimsuit but to E it looked rather like she had just forgotten her clothes ;)). After looking around we let the girls play some games in the arcade. They LOVED it! Ev and Gracie loved the game where you pick up candy (figures) with the claw. Julia’s favorite was the skee ball and they all loved the little carousel. :)
